Dr. Calvino focused on colorectal cancer screening access
Rhode Island was one of 11 states hosted by the Centers for Disease Control at a recent forum focused on increasing screenings for colorectal cancer. Dr. Abdul Saied Calvino, a surgical oncologist at Roger Williams Medical Center, is the Physician Champion for the Rhode Island Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and was part of our state’s working group. The CDC forum, entitled, “Increasing Colorectal Cancer Screening Rates Through Enhanced Partnerships between Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalitions and Federally Qualified Health Centers”, took place on July 18-19 in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Calvino is pictured below with team members from Rhode Island.
On July 15, Dr. Calvino was a guest on the Patricia Raskin Radio show on WPRO-AM where he talked about colorectal cancer prevention and treatment. He was on the program as part of his work with the Colon Cancer Alliance, Rhode Island chapter.
