Health Center hosts Christmas party for kids
For 35 years, St. Joseph Health Center has been hosting an annual Christmas party for children who have received medical and dental care at the health center. This year’s party took place on December 8, 2017. The event consists of refreshments, entertainment, crafts, and a chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus while receiving a Christmas gift. The children are also encouraged to read through the gift of a book of their choice.
Each year, approximately 350-400 children attend the Christmas party and receive gifts ranging from a bicycle or basketball to a doll set or toy truck. The CharterCARE Foundation sponsors the event and obtaining gifts from local business and individual supporters interested in brightening a child’s Christmas. Donations to the holiday party are tax deductible, as The Foundation is an independent, 501©3 community foundation and is not affiliated with Prospect Chartercare LLC, its partners or affiliates. Staff from the Health Center volunteer their time to decorate, along with sorting, wrapping and distributing gifts.
The health center, a CharterCARE affiliate, is located in South Providence and provides comprehensive care to children, adults and families through a network of primary care and specialty clinics. It is home to nearly 100,000 patient visits each year.
