Internal Medicine Residency Program

Welcome

I am delighted by your interest in our internal medicine residency program. We have created this website to provide an overview of our facilities and educational programs for you to review. We offer a broad and rigorous educational experience in internal medicine, in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Our outstanding faculty strive to provide a collegial and nurturing academic atmosphere, where postgraduate education is our primary concern.

The medical service at Roger Williams Medical Center boasts a unique blend of primary and tertiary care. We are an academic community hospital and the site for the state's only bone marrow transplantation program.

We have a very active pulmonary and gastroenterology service, an outstanding gerontology program, and several multidisciplinary clinics including the state’s only rheumatology-dermatology clinic. Our residents have participated in research programs running the gamut from bench research to literature reviews, case reports, retrospective analyses, drug trials, and quality improvement studies.

This is an exciting time to be at Roger Williams Medical Center. Recently, we have been able to obtain a SimMan® 3G simulator manikin for ACLS skills development, and ultrasound with which we will be developing a program-wide curriculum to teach residents on the use of this incredibly effective bedside tool.  In the upcoming academic year, we will be implementing a 4+1 schedule for the house staff, a change we believe will improve the outpatient experience, and enrich the quality of the program’s didactics.

We are dedicated to ensuring that your residency training is both academically stimulating and enjoyable; I look forward to having you join us.
