CPME(Council on Podiatric Medical Education) approved PMSR training program offering the added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery.
The residency program has been located at Roger Williams Medical Center since 1993. The scope of practice allows for all foot and ankle-related conditions to be examined and treated.
Educational Goals
Our mission is to provide an educational continuum designed to prepare graduates for successful entry into any private, multispecialty, orthopedic, or hospital-based practice in foot and ankle care, or advanced fellowship training. Our faculty's primary responsibility is to provide a training atmosphere of mature study, thoughtful inquiry, and active participation and experience with a focus upon ethical decision making and community standard of care. The residency education committee works to ensure that the goals and objectives of a PMSR program with the added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery are met with extensive review and evaluation processes.
Requirements
The program participates fully in CASPR (the Central Application Service for Podiatric Residencies) and CRIP (Centralized Regional Interview Process) and application requirements are noted on our institution’s information page within CASPR.
Externship
We accept up to 2 podiatric externs per month. Podiatric medical students will rotate at RWMC and some affiliated institutions for one month, working closely with the podiatry residents and attending staff to gain further knowledge in the field of podiatric medicine and surgery. Externship is recommended, but not required in the residency selection process. Hospital visitation is encouraged during the year and is arranged by contacting the residents through their pager at 401-357-1216.
