CharterCARE Supports Smith Hill Center

CharterCARE was pleased to recently award the Smith Hill Community Development Center (SHCDC) a donation to support its work in the neighborhoods that abut Roger Williams Medical Center, including Wanskuck. The SHCDC is a non-profit affordable housing agency but in the words of Executive Director Jean Lamb, “we are much more than housing”. For more than 30 years they have provided youth programming, community gardening, and neighborhood beautification programs for the community at large. They also offer resident support services that encompass social service programs application assistance, and mental health guidance. More recently, in response to the pandemic, they provided rental relief application assistance  as well as vaccination clinics, testing clinics, and COVID-19 education for children and adults.
