Pastoral Care
Concern for the human and spiritual dignity of each person is at the heart of the Catholic Health Care Apostolate. The St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island Pastoral Care Team, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, gives daily witness to the faithful love God has for all people.

Here for Patients
The pastoral care team comes to pray with patients. We also sit and visit, or just listen. It is our goal to help patients in their relationships with others and with God. Our role is to support, comfort, console in times of pain and to be a loving presence for the seriously ill and those passing from death to New Life.
Here for Families
The pastoral care team is ready to stand with family members in fragile moments of decision making, to pray with family members and to help with the grieving process. We work to reconcile alienated family members and to create an atmosphere where feelings of love, affirmation, truth, fear, grief and anxiety can be openly expressed.
Here for Staff
Who will heal the healer? The pastoral care team prays daily for hospital staff members as they live the gospel mandate "to heal the broken hearted." We serve as comfort to care-givers suffering from fatigue, stress or burnout, and help with conflicts between professional positions and personal involvements. Finally, we are partners in the difficult search for meaning in life, suffering and death.
