Dr. Rabih El-Bizri, in private practice for more than 21 years, has been named Director of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Roger Williams Medical Center by Dr. John Stoukides, Chairman of the Department of Medicine.

A member of the medical staff since 2013, Dr. El-Bizri is board certified in both pulmonary and critical care medicine. He has special interests in advanced brochoscopic procedures and thoracic malignancy. Shortly after he joined Roger Williams, he started the endobronchial ultrasound program, launched the lung nodule clinic at CharterCARE Medical Associates, and in collaboration with the radiology department, started the lung cancer screening program.

Dr. El-Bizri has also been very involved in the teaching program with internal medical residents and pulmonary fellows, and was formerly a faculty member with the Brown University pulmonary-critical care fellowship program.

He received his medical degree from Lebanese University School of Medicine, where he also completed a diagnostic radiology residency program. He performed his residency in internal medicine at Staten Island University Hospital, SUNY, where he served as chief resident. He completed his pulmonary-critical care fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital and the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.

“We are excited to have Dr. El-Bizri lead the division as we set a new course for pulmonary and critical care medicine at Roger Williams,” added Dr. Stoukides.
