Did you know that Diabetes is one of the top ten leading causes of death in the United States? Type II Diabetes is the most common type form of Diabetes.

What is Diabetes?

Your pancreas produces insulin, which is a hormone that allows your body to turn the food you eat into energy. For those with Type II Diabetes, your pancreas still produces insulin, but it’s not being used as well as it should be. The pancreas will over produce insulin, in an attempt to get your body to use it, but over time there is too much to handle, and this makes the sugar levels in your blood rise. There are many causes of Type II Diabetes, including genetics, a lack of communication between cells, or even a metabolic syndrome. However, one of the leading causes is weight.

What Can Cause Diabetes?

Struggling with weight gain is a common problem across the country and even the world. Being overweight or obese can lead to many health issues, including Prediabetes, or Type II Diabetes. If you’ve been diagnosed with this disease, there are many different options for treatment, that allow your body to use insulin the way it needs to. However, those with Type II Diabetes due to their weight can see serious improvements from weight loss.

What Can You Do?

If you’ve struggled with weight, you know that losing weight is not always simple. Weight loss surgery is a valid option for people who are overweight or obese. Surgery improves Type II Diabetes in nearly 90% of patients! It can lower your blood sugar levels and can reduce the dosage of medication required for this disease. Even more amazingly, Weight loss surgery has been shown to make Type II Diabetes go into remission in 78% of patients! This means that surgery can not only help improve your diabetes but in many cases can cure it!

There are many types of surgery.
