The road to recovery following a disabling illness, traumatic injury or orthopedic surgery can be a long one. The good news is, you don’t have to travel alone. At the Southern New England Rehabilitation Center, we are with you every step of the way.

As the recognized leader in rehabilitation, we have helped thousands of people return to health and independent living. As an affiliate of CharterCARE Health Partners, we can also help you access any hospital, nursing home, or home care you might need as you continue on your journey.

From the first meeting with our highly-trained staff, you will know you are in the right hands.

A History of Excellence

Helping people recover and live fuller lives is what we have done for the past two decades -- and continue to do today. When you are recovering, you want to regain independence and get back into your home setting safely and as soon as possible. We share those goals and will work to make them a reality.

Established in 1988, the Southern New England Rehabilitation Center, located on the premises of Fatima Hospital, is known for comprehensive rehabilitation services. The Center’s skilled staff of professionals lead by a board certified rehabilitation physician provides a full range of coordinated rehabilitation care. Our clinical expertise and compassion make a big difference as we develop individualized plans of care for the unique needs of each patient. Our medical staff is comprised of physicians board-certified in rehabilitation medicine and internal medicine. We are your advocates as you rehabilitate and recover.

Our 24-bed inpatient center offers rehabilitation programs for people who have experienced serious injury or illness that limits their ability to function in everyday settings. Because each patient is unique, we make sure treatment plans suit each patient's specific needs and goals.

The Center’s clinical staff maintains academic affiliations to help train future rehabilitation professionals. Our annual educational conference for medical and rehabilitation professionals is regionally recognized.

Additionally, we support educational events with community organizations, including the American Stroke Association, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Brain Injury Association of RI and the Arthritis Foundation, and host support groups.

The Southern New England Rehabilitation Center is accredited by both The Joint Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). For patients, this is confirmation of the high quality of rehabilitative care we deliver.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization governed by a board that includes physicians, nurses and consumers. The Joint Commission sets the standards by which health care quality is measured in America and around the world. The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care for more than 15,000 health organizations.

CARF accreditation means the provider has passed an in-depth review of its services. It provides assurance that the health care facility meets rigorous CARF guidelines for service and quality. Our CARF accreditation means we are conforming to nationally and internationally recognized service standards and can be relied upon to deliver the most favorable results for our patients.
